We promote downtown history, culture, and commerce.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to promote the history, culture and commerce in the downtown.

As a nationally accredited Main Street program, we are dedicated to preserving and revitalizing our historic downtown, ensuring it remains a thriving hub of culture, commerce, and community for generations to come. Through strategic initiatives, community partnerships, and passionate advocacy, we strive to enhance the economic vitality, cultural richness, and overall quality of life in Downtown Walla Walla.

The Downtown Walla Walla Foundation follows the National Main Street Center's Four Point Approach, a comprehensive strategy for revitalizing downtowns and preserving their historic character. It encompasses four key areas of focus:

Organization: This involves building strong partnerships and creating a cohesive vision for downtown revitalization. Main Street programs typically form nonprofit organizations or partnerships to coordinate revitalization efforts, engage stakeholders, and manage day-to-day operations.

Promotion: Promotion focuses on marketing downtown as a vibrant destination, highlighting its unique assets and attractions. This can include events, advertising campaigns, social media outreach, and other efforts to attract visitors, shoppers, and investors to downtown.

Design: Design aims to enhance the physical appearance and functionality of downtown. This includes preserving historic buildings, improving streetscapes, signage, and landscaping, and creating an inviting atmosphere that attracts people to the area.

Economic Vitality: Economic vitality focuses on strengthening downtown's economic base and supporting local businesses. This can involve providing technical assistance to entrepreneurs, fostering business development, recruiting new businesses, and supporting existing ones to thrive and grow.
