The DWWF is partnering with the Union Bulletin for the "Julia Child Boeff Bourguignon Cookoff" on Feb 5th at Someone's in the Kitchen, 132 W Rose.  The event starts at 5pm, with 20 contestants submitting their version of the dish which will be judged by 7 local chefs.   The grand winner will receive the 2 volume set of 'Mastering the Art of French Cooking'.  Tickets are $15 each for participants who will receive SITK's version of the dish, a pairing of wine from Sapolil Cellars, and entertainment from Topher Murphy assuming the role of the 'Culinary Queen" herself!

The inspiration for the event was the "Julie and Julia" movie. With Valentine's Day the next week, participants will be inspired to prepare their own dish.  So Lady's, put on your pearls and Men, don your bowties - and be prepared to have fun!

Space is limited - tickets can be purchased at Book & Game Co., DWWF office, Destination Walla Walla on Main St. and at SITK.  A portion of the proceeds benefit Providence St. Mary's Medical Patient Care.

From One Legend to Another

Olive Marketplace and Cafe set to open Friday, February 5th (headline)
The tranformation is almost complete - the former Merchants space at 21 E Main is nearly ready for a new life as Olive Marketplace and Cafe!  A casual place to grab a coffee on your way to the office, meet up for lunch, enjoy a cheese plate and glass of wine before you head home or after a movie. And did we mention the flatbread pizzas?  Tom Maccarone and Chef Jake Crenshaw, the dynamite team behind T. Maccarone's, will open Olive to the public next Friday.
The cafe menu features a variety of T. Maccarone's favorites with the addition of new breakfast entrees, sandwiches, house-made pizzas, and a full selection of espresso drinks, beer, and wine. Tom describes the menu as a little bit of Merchants mixed with a little bit of T. Mac's sprinkled with a little bit of Jake's magic.
Olive Marketplace and Cafe will be open daily from 7 A.M. to 9 P.M, with breakfast served from 7-11 A.M. and cafe menu available from 11 A.M. to closing.
