Volunteer Opportunities

Too early to be thinking of the holidays? Nonsense! The DWWF has holiday events firmly in place and opportunities abound for volunteers!

Saturday, December 5th is the 14th Annual Macy's Parade of Lights.  There are three volunteer shifts available during this great community event: 9am - sign placement for the parade route (a great opportunity for youth groups and high school kids needing community service hours - about 90 minutes); 1pm - marking the parade staging area through the Whitman campus (another opportunity for youth - about 60 minutes); and 4pm - assisting floats in the parade staging area (absolutely adult volunteers for this - about 90 minutes).

Saturday, December 12th is Hot Cocoa with Santa, this year at the Walla Walla Bread Company. A handful of volunteers are needed at 8am for set up and noon for clean up. Another great opportunity for high-schoolers to earn community service hours.

Saturday, December 19th is the Starbucks Reading Room at the Walla Walla Public Library from 10am to noon. Volunteers are needed for one-on-one reading and group stories, as well as distributing free books to every child at the event. Come for 30 minutes or come for all 2 hours!

Thanks to all those who attended last night's DWWF Annual Meeting at The Red Monkey. We had a wonderful time visiting and giving awards to our amazing volunteers. A special thank you to Sapolil Cellars and Walla Walla Wine Works for the wine, and to The Red Monkey for hosting us. Here is a picture of our Board President and Jennifer Northam presenting an award to Board Member Roger Lizut.

We are only two weeks away from the Parade of Lights. For us at the Foundation that means holiday event planning is in full swing. Be sure to check out of list of events to see what great holiday parties, specials and volunteer oppurtunities are happening downtown. And be sure to be at this year's Hot Cocoa With Santa.
